Ocean 211 in Stamford

Dropped in at Ocean 211 on Summer St. in Stamford this evening for a few drinks and a light dinner. Sat at the bar, ordered a dry Tanqueray martini (straight up) and asked the barkeep to switch the modest TV to the Masters which he cheerfully did with a little help from from a fellow golf-obsessed patron.

I ordered six Bluepoint oysters. They were fresh, enormous and expertly shucked. Some of the best I've had anywhere. I followed these beauties up with an order of mussels steamed in a wine reduction. They were fresh, plump and plentiful. Very tasty. The broth was ok and the bread only so-so (too bad).

All-in-all, this is some of the freshest seafood I've had anywhere. The oysters were $15 and the mussels $14. The martini set me back $10.

Ocean 211 is pricey. Very pricey. Still, you get what you pay for. I'll be back.
