I was lured in by the sign for 49 cent coffee. It is Peerless served in a medium size cup and a good deal for what it is.
I didn't note the hot chocolate or cappucino, so AFAIK it could come from a jar or package.
Instead I was dazzled by the large jars of kimchee and containers of panchan. Strolling around the market they have a meat counter in back. Possibly there is hot food as there were some steam table type of dishes. It was late in the day on a Sunday, so probably not the day to find take out.
The shelves had all sort of Korean groceries. According to yelpers some are less common. The produce section seemed to be the weak link here. Some of it looked tired, but there were also some mystery items to me.
According to yelp they have some hard to find Korean food. Also, though the owners have limited English they can be helpful when deciding what panchan to buy.
The name seemsto have changed over the years, orginally called Eugene's, E & M and now EM.
I'm not sure if that changed what the market has to offer. Yelp mentins a noodle bar and $5 Korean bento boxes. At one time, don't know if this is still true, they marked down prepared foods to $1 after 5pm. Back in 2007 they roasted sweet potatoes outside the market.
Anyone have any updates on this market?
