Oahu: Alan Wong's-Never Again

Bob Foster | Feb 22, 200411:19 AM

I've now been to Alan Wong's three times. I will not go back. While the food is very special, the service, in my mind, continues to deteriorate.(Last time we were ignored for a large party of regulars.) We ate there last week on a weeknight. We got there on time for a 7:30 reservation. We were greeted with a "please wait at the bar" salutation. We sat for over 20 minutes. No one came by to say anyhing to us. We just sat (along with numerous others). What it says to me is they overbook the room continually. They know how long it takes to turn a table-they should book accordingly. They picked the time for our reservation-we didn't. Then during dinner with a party of four, NOT ONCE did all four diners get their course at the same time. Again and again two or three of the four plates would arrive. We just waited. When one of the managers strolled past and asked how things were-I told her, very politely. She said nothing and just scurried off. I can pay this kind of money at Chef Mavro's just down the street and get a better meal with superb service. Sorry Mr Wong, it's strike three from this family.
