NYC 'Hounds Seeking A Saturday Brunch near the Mirimar

ZenFoodist | Aug 8, 2014 10:38 AM

My husband, our ten year old, and I will be doing the PCH shebang from San Fran and arriving in Santa Monica on Wed 8/20 and staying through the 24th. We've been to your delicious city quite a few times but not in the last few years. I've spent a bunch of time reading through posts and gleaned many suggestions, particularly from the somewhat recent thread started by the Detroit-based 'hound. We plan to hit places like Guisado's and Ricky's Fish Tacos as well as Osteria Mozza and Lucques. A nice mashup. The only meal I can't quite figure out is a Saturday Brunch. I will be meeting up with my uncle and his partner from Long Beach, and as I am staying at the Mirimar thought it would be convenient to eat at Fig. Unfortunately Fig only does brunch on Sundays and doesn't open until 5pm. Back to the drawing board....

Our guests have somewhat basic tastes so something that features some classics would be appreciated. A lovely ambiance would also be great. No price constraints. Whatever you think would be a nice Saturday in So Cal experience. Disclaimer: I'm not a brunch type. Much prefer straight up lunch or breakfast ( can't wait for Eggslut!), but we want to meet up at 11 and brunch seems like the way to go. Any thoughts? I get the distinct impression you're an opinionated crew and I look forward to your suggestions.

Many thanks in advance,

Osteria Mozza,
