NY Bakery-Style Cookie Help

rockycat | May 4, 2015 07:05 AM

I'm looking for a recipe to make NY bakery-style sprinkle cookies. Not the small piped cookies found in Italian bakeries, but the large round one found in the Jewish bakeries. They look something like this and were usually found next to the big ones with a button of chocolate in the center and the other ones that had a tie-dyed look:

I tried one of the recipes suggested on another CH thread on this topic and, while it made a perfectly decent if overly sweet cookie, it was nothing like the dry-ish crumbly cookie I remember. I'm thinking about trying this CH suggested recipe and am looking at the following two.

Can anyone suggest a recipe that would yield the right kind of cookie?
