Nutty Brown and Chicken Fried Chicken

amysuehere | Jan 23, 2003 10:46 AM

Finally tried the ole Nutty Brown way down south. I think the patio is great and may go back in the spring. Of course, I tried the chicken fried chicken (I never really liked chicken fried steak, so...). HUGE chicken! Are they sure they aren't serving turkey breasts? Darn thing hung off the plate. Anyway, great breading, moist meat and pretty good gravy. Stand out was the green beans. If you're afraid of bacon, you'd better stay away. This meal was a real heart attack, but good anyway. However, after our "membership" beers (the county is dry) it was a smidge on the pricey side - $37 before tip for two.

Got me thinking, who does make the best chicken fried chicken/steak in Austin? I used to love it at Stubb's, but they've really gone downhill. Hoover's is really good, but I'm not really keen on their sides and phew, are they pricey.
