Thanks for all the suggestions about food near the #7 line. Landed at Sripraphai after last Saturday's soakfest/Mets game (hey, Mets won, we were under an overhang in the mezzanine, life was good).
Had a very good soup w/shrimp, mushrooms, and the usual spices/herbs - guessing lemongrass, cilantro, red chili peppers. Main dish was sauteed pork over rice - not much in the way of sauce, but tender & very good flavor. Small bowl of vinegary pepper sauce helped kick up the Scoville units some. A friend had fried tofu with the peanut sauce, along with a vegetarian dish - spaced on the details there, sorry.
Overall, very good Thai food, though not up to the major raves. This could be partly due to overhype, could also be what I ordered and my expectations. While I've tried numerous Thai restaurants in the US, I haven't been to Thailand, don't know "authentic" Thai food apart from the US-friendly version. My favorite Thai food of all time is still Duangrat's, in Falls Church VA (near DC).
Definitely enjoyed the food though, would certainly return. Might like to try something different next time - not the catfish curry, though. :)
