new North Shore "French Market"?

leek | May 7, 2003 09:35 AM

a friend recalls seeing something in the Evanston Review (a Pioneer Press paper) about a new "French Market" in Wilmette or Winnetka this summer. They already have them in other suburbs (Wheaton, Villa Park, Libertyville). I wasn't able to find the ad/article, but did find a mention on-line that they are supposed to be starting in Glencoe and Lombard, and that Evanston would be researching it this summer with the idea of starting one next year - maybe even running one year-round.

The concept is that this company (Bensidoun) oversees the Farmer's Market, adding other kinds of items for sale, making it more of a weekly fair where you'd want to spend the day, in addition to buying food. They standardize the tarps and take care of all clean up, etc.

Anyway, if anyone has been to one of these, and can let me know how it differs from the normal Farmer's market in our area, I'd like to hear :)
