I recently celebrated my first anniversary dinner at Norman's in Coral Gables. We had Norman's tasting was awesome! First course: Butternut Squash Soup w/ home smoked ham...served w/ a poached pear in the center. 2nd course: Escabeched of Snapper on a blue corn quesadilla w/ sherry dressed lettuces & heirloom tomatoes,avocado and corn salsa (this was my favorite). 3rd.course:orecchiette and white beans in a squab jus with braised squab meat..would have been great w/ a glass of red wine..but we weren't drinking. 4th course: roasted filet mignon on a mashed yam and sweet corn & chanterelle ragout w/ a creole-zinfandel reduction and pickled spanish onions. Dessert: warm black mission fig tart w/ armagnac ice cream. The food was wonderful....the service better...bread and water flowed thru out the meal....everyone was nice....concerned...very comfortable. Chef Norman came out and talked to well as most of the other diners...took a picture with us and autographed a menu. I was delighted. Oh yeah...they wrote "happy anniversay on our dessert plates. We loved the whole experience and will remember that meal forever! My next goal is to have a meal like that in Tampa area...send on the suggestions.
