Although I have read mixed reactions to Nobu, I went on Saturday night with some family members. Since I was not paying, we did not go Omakase, but went with the suggestions of an excellent waitress which seemed to jive with many of the favorites I have seen on the board.
Started with the Sashimi Salad- melt in your mouth tuna with greens and a suberb dressing- I was in heaven
Then had the Yellowtail sashimi with a thin slice of jalepeno and cilantro- another huge hit for the table- the melding of flavors just popped in your mouth.
Next onto warm dishes- Rock shrimp tempura in a chili sauce- delish! Shrimp with a thin fried crust in a sauce to die for!
Then a chicken skewer dish- spicy, yet tender.
then, the highligh for me- Black cod in a moso glaze- again the fish just melted in your mouth with a sweet glaze- my mouth is watering as I type this.
Then onto suchi- Salmon and fluke sushi, and a few rolls- yellowtail scallion, tempura shripm and spicy tuna. All great,but for me, not the highlight- the other dishes were much more unique- the sushi was wonderful, but similar could be found in NYC.
Dessert was a bento box with chocolate cake and green tea ice cream, and also mochi ice cream. Good but forgetable.
All in all, a great experience- and will go back again- esp. the sashimi salad and black cod!
