Despite its very prominent location in Old Town Pasadena, I have passed on eating at this restaurant for more than 2 years. I have never read anything about this restaurant on Chowhound, good or bad. So in the interests of trying something new, I went yesterday and was very pleased. The menu is a little small, but I decided on balsamic chicken with mashed potatoes. My date had the chicken & mushroom ravioli. Both dishes were just so dang good and our plates were clean at the end of dinner. Chicken was nicely cooked, & the balsamic sauce was both sour and slightly sweet, without being gooey. Ravioli wouldn't be something I'd gravitate toward, but it had tons of different flavors in each bite.
I normally don't order dessert but dinner had been so good that I was curious. Lemon tart, chocolate flourless cake, carrot cake, plus 1 I can't remember. Anyway, tiramisu sounded the best and this might be the only disappointment of the meal. I wasn't expecting it to be swimming in chocolate sauce! Usually I think of tiramisu as having a light dusting of cocoa or maybe chocolate shavings on top. Instead this one arrived with a bunch of syrup all over it. Dayam. The tiramisu had 3 very distinct flavors to it - creamy, sweet from chocolate, and slightly bitter notes from the coffee. Nice. I'd order it again, but WITHOUT the sauce.
