Looking for a nice, friendly place to have Thanksgiving dinner

We have a good friend coming to town over the Thanksgiving weekend and would like to go out to dinner with her on Thanksgiving Day. We could, of course, make a reservation at one of the upscale places that seem to turn into dining factories on Thanksgiving day, but we've been that route in the past and found it unsatisfactory to the extreme.

On the other hand, a few years ago we happened to stop into Flanagan's (an Irish saloon on 1st Avenue and 65th) by chance on Thanksgiving Day (more out-of-towners in tow) and found a welcome, warm and informal ambience. They were serving dinner all day, no reservations needed. Not the greatest food in town, but reasonably good at a VERY good price, and all the ease and warmth of eating at home, making for a very satisfactory experience.

We could go back to Flanagan's (a possibility), but we were hoping we might get some recommendations for similar places that Chowhounders might know.

Thanks in advance...
