Impromptu brunch at Cafe Atchafalaya Sunday. Remodeled 13 months ago with a great look and feel. We had a gulf fish omelet in a habanero sauce and pulled pork and poached egg atop a grit cake, both of which were very good. The food was certainly as good as that at Dante's or Elizabeth's. Also, very good coffee, an essential for any breakfast place. Finally, every member of the staff we encountered was professional and positive, going out of their way to thank us for choosing their restaurant. Given that we'd visited on a whim after a morning walk on the levee and looked more than a little like something the cat dragged in, this was particularly gratifying. In short, a charming place that I highly recommend.
