Nicaro short review

Maryland Crab | Dec 18, 2007 05:17 AM

My better half and I had our first dinner at Nicaro on Saturday. Here was our impression of the meal. We split a Caesar Salad and the Lamb Bolognaise as apps. The salad was okay but nothing special but the lamb was outstanding. It can be ordered as an app or entree and I would certainly order it the next time as an entree. I had the beef short ribs and my wife had sea bass.

Her seafood was very good and perfectly prepared but I would stay away from the short ribs. They were very fatty and did not have much flavor - missing the umami. We split a apple tart for dessert with some caramel ice cream on it and it was certainly not anything special. We did wines by the glass and the overall wine list was pretty limited but I blame that on our dear friends in Monkey County. I hate the wine/liquor policy of this stupid county.

All in all. we will go back. It was packed all night and the only negative comment I heard was a young couple sitting next to us who said that their bill was "insanely" expensive. We found it typical for downtown prices and it was nice to get a more upscale meal without the long drive. It ain't Ray's but was well worth it. The tables are a little crowded and the noise level was certainly high, but I would certainly recommend giving it a try.
