NEWCOMERS: WELCOME!

Jim Leff | May 16, 2002 02:09 PM

Lots of new folks are coming in, and I wanted to say a quick welcome to everyone. I wish I could take time to personally thank newcomers who've left great chowhoundish postings, but there aren't enough hours in a day. Hopefully some of our veterans will extend paws of welcome, but in any case, please just chime into discussions. The more, the chowier.

You may have noticed that we get well over 1000 postings/day. It's impossible to keep up with them all. If you were to read every single one, cull the best tips, weigh all the consensus opinions, look up address/phone/maps/directions for each place, and organize it into a sleek tipsheet....you'd be wasting your time, because we already do exactly that for you.

It's called ChowNews. We send it via email every Friday, and it's a steal at $15. It comes in NYC, SF, or LA flavors, each including boil-downs of General Topics discussion (of use for all regions). Subscribers are deliriously happy with ChowNews; as the weeks go by, they're compiling awesome chowcyclopedias on their hard drives. You can order (and follow links to free sample issues!) via the "live" link below.

Also, if you'd like to follow my exploits around the NY tristate area and beyond (e.g. this week: SF), you can subscribe to my weekly Chow Alert!" newsletter. Free sample at [BROKEN LINK REMOVED]

Last but not least, we offer tres cool products in our ChowMarket, including a passport that de-gringos you in restaurants of 7 nationalities. High quality chowhound t-shirts, too (meet your fellow hounds on the prowl!). ChowMarket is at http://chowhound.safeshopper.com

Eat Well,

ciao
