Making its way into my Top Ten is Arcaro's on Main Avenue in Taylor (Taylor Hill). Not to be confused with Arcaro and Genell in Old Forge, this is a cheesy pie that may be the great "bridge" between the Old Forge and Scranton styles---and geographically that makes sense too. :)
There's more sauce goin' on here (Old Forge) than in the cheesy Scranton trays/pies I've had over the years (Maroni's/Vince the Pizza Prince/Nina's in Dunmore/Russo's/etc.). Also, this is remarkably consistent from bite to bite (no burnt spots, chunks of cheese/tomato, etc.). Very smooth, very tasty.
Our parents and grandparents sure knew what they were doing'!!!! With all this variety from Scranton to Hazleton, we just might be the most overlooked pizza region in America.
