Another Nellie's rave

precipice | Jun 15, 2005 08:46 PM

Went to Nellie's in Oakland for lunch today, and I agree with Morton and others that it is very much worth a trip. (Morton, I take back my teasing about your Gregoire's post!) I had fried chicken and three sides, my friend had the chicken and red snapper combo. We both loved almost everything we had. My friend reported that the collard greens were a little salty, but even at that he thought they balanced out the mashed potatoes well. At 11:30a on a Wednesday, the place was nearly empty, but by noon it had gotten to about half full (in a very large room). Service was not overly warm but was friendly and prompt.

I'll be back. Head on down if it sounds appealing at all -- I think you'll enjoy it.
