I was born and raised in New Orleans but only have a few ideas about the best restaurants (Felix's and Acme are typically my first stop for oysters) since my mother and extended family were such excellent cooks. After two years (tooooooo long), my wife and I are planning a road trip to N.O. from Chicago between Nov. 22nd and Nov. 30th. We anticipate spending many of the hours eating, drinking and enjoying the fine music. My wife's from N.Y. and I want her to get the authetic atmospere of N.O. with some of the best food the city has to offer. She's becoming more of a seafood fan (because I am) but loves a good steak or chicken meal too. Will drive anywhere in the city. Also, if there are any places near N.O. that are great finds, I would like to hear about them. I don't know the next time I'll be down this way, so I want to get the most from the trip. All suggestions are welcomed, expecially casual stops with a N.O. flair.
