In the interest of moving rapidly away from the rather childish squablings between Howler and myself, I thought it was worth sharing a rather fun hour or so I have just spent wandering around the National festival of Meat in Smithfield Market.
The Meat and Livestock commission have organised ( I believe ) in an attemt to promote meat after the horrors of foot and mouth ( no I am not back to Howler, he has foot in mouth disease )
While there was much wonderful produce on offer, there was a slight air of desperation about the whole thing. I am not sure even the most jaded of young children would have been won over by the "Beef is Fun" badges and I am pretty certain that being a member of the National Association of Ladies in Pig Farming aint getting you a date on a Saturday night.
All that being said, there were some wonderful stalls and I treated myself to a rare roast Aberdeen angus sarnie with wholegrain mustard and also bought a superb batch of smoked chicken and turkey sausages from Compton's.
Only one question. Who thought life size straw sculptures of soon to be slaughtered cattle was a good idea?
Mind you anything that gets the industry back on its feet has my vote
