Austin Hound visiting Chicago for the first time in May. On the Sunday night of our stay, my husband and I would like to treat an old friend and her husband to dinner. We have not seen each other in years and want to avoid any place that is so loud that conversation is difficult. Additionally, we plan to pay for the meal and want to take them some place nice, but not so crazy expensive that they may feel uncomfortable with us picking up the tab.
We will be staying at the Park Hyatt and they live off North Avenue near Halstead. On the map, these don't look to far apart and want to find a place to eat that makes sense geographically. Not knowing Chicago, I am struggling to get a sense of direction.
The places I am tossing around are: North Pond, Aigre Doux, Sweet and Savories, and Custom House. Thoughts? Additional suggestions?
I am purposefully avoiding Italian, sushi/Japanese and Mexican as we have plans for those cuisines already.
Thanks for the help. I look forward to visiting your city.
