So this new chicken spot opens up by my cousins house out here in Mississauga. (Mavis and Britannia location) Apparently, its supposed to be a Portuguese chicken joint. My uncle took me and a couple of cousins out. There were quite a few people waiting for take out when we got there. It has some sit down tables, but you have to order the food from the same line up front. The food was delivered to our tables and heres a quick run down:
My uncle ordered the wings and spicy fries
One cousin ordered the chicken kabobs and spicy rice
My other cousin ordered the quarter chicken w/spicy fries
I ordered the double leg dinner w/spicy fries and rice
The term spicy should be used loosely. The flavors of the seasoning on the fries (which seemd like generic frozen fries) were pretty much non-existent. The rice was disappointing (the rehydrate and serve kind). And the chicken, I dont know where they get their anorexic birds from, but those chickens need to get fed in order for me to get fed. YouknowwhatImsayin?? Plus they didn't really taste like anything (other than chicken of course...) I took a look at their take out menu then realized: this place is a chain. Now it makes sense. (Most of their outlets are in B.C. They have a location in Brampton too.)
But it did have a redeeming quality: they had this hot sauce along side their ketchup. And quite frankly, I think its pretty damn good. It sort of tasted like jerk sauce, except more sour. Some good stuff. I would imagine (or is that hope?) they sell it as well.
