Nan report

Hi y'all -

Thought I'd post a report on my Nan dinner last night. I had passed by this restaurant and thought it looked interesting even before getting recommendations on the board.

When we first got there, I was irritated to discover that there really weren't any vegetarian options for my friend on the menu other than the salads. Good thing he is flexible - we split a pad thai and he let me eat the shrimp. There was a vegetarian soup as one of the specials - a creamy watercress - that was delicious. We also split a peanutty noodle salad (again, vegetarian) that wasn't on the menu. We brought along a bottle of Seghesio Zin, and enjoyed drinking that with our meal. By each having an appetizer and splitting the meals, we were stuffed and our bill was only about $40. Staff couldn't be nicer.

I recently moved from New Orleans and my friend lives there now. We both agreed that Nan compares favorably with similarly priced restaurants down there, with the exception of not having more vegetarian choices, which, quite frankly, surprised me. I would definitely go back to Nan, but only with someone who didn't have such dietary restrictions.
