I braved the mini-mall at Sunset and Fountain for the sake of Silver Lake chowhounds to try Nadpob Thai. The menu listed only the usual suspects, and there were no specials posted. It was hard to get an idea of the full scope since I chose mostly non-spicy dishes to take home to the kids, but my initial impression was fairly positive. The chicken larb was fresh tasting in a nicely sour dressing. Chicken noodles were bland but not bad with a little hot sauce added. A barbecue sampler came with several pieces of decent chicken, a few smoky ribs, some tasty pieces of boneless beef and shrimp fried rice. The room was not terribly inviting, although the waitress told me they would have live music and be open until 4 am on weekends. I'm not sure who they're really targeting -- it seems more like a Thai town place, certainly not a trendy Silver Lake place. It would be worth another try if you're in the neighborhood, but certainly not worth a special trip. At the moment it's cash only and no delivery listed on the menu. I didn't fear for my safety in the notorious parking lot, because the police were having a pleasant chat with the crackheads, although the police car was blocking my car.
Nadpob Thai Cafe
PS - The Indian restaurant looks very far from being done and has some kind of non-payment notice on the window -- not too promising.
