Naan and Curry opens and Paradise Pizza closes-Irving st.

derek | Mar 3, 200305:27 PM

After watching 3 or 4 programs about pizza on the Food Channel, I decided to go over to Irving between 7th and 8th to try Paradise Pizza, after having had a good experience with them at their West Portal location. As I was walking, I saw that "Naan and Curry" had just opened, and then I realized that they opened in the vacated Paradise Pizza space!! Well my tummy couldn't change gears..expecting pizza, so on a Monday afternoon it found itself at Milano's Pizza on 9th (bet Irving and Judah).. I ordered a small pie. The crust was nicely browned and initially crisp...but instead of it being crispy then chewy, (New York Style), it was crispy then doughy! The cheese was liquidy without any mozzarella tensile stretch and strength. The sausage I was happy to see was in rather large chunks and quite tasty. but the sauce!...the sauce was terribly acrid, from either too much oregano (or perhaps they had not cooked it long enough to allow the flavor to mellow)...either way, I was not a happy luncher!
(at least I got a copy of the delivery menu from "N&C"!)
