My grandma use to make a a special cookie around Christmas. They used to call them "Cristos" but i think it that was short or some dialect from Apuglia. They were made with red wine, flour, crisco. It was a heavy, dense and sticky dough to work with. The shape was a pinwheel and it was fried then dipped in hot honey, laid on a table and then sprinkled with walnuts. They were very hard but so good. I do remember they were a project to make! Anyone know what these are called or where I could find a recipe?
