Myanmar Restaurant in Falls Church

I tried Myanmar Restaurant in Falls Church this weekend with my wife and a few friends. This place is a find! I had never had Burmese food so I was unsure as to what to expect but I was quite happy with just about everything we had. I would classify Burmese food as a 40/40/20 split. 40% Indian; 40% Thai; 20% unique.
Here is all that I tried (with my best guess as to the ingredients):

Ginger Salad – fresh sliced ginger with marinated fresh cabbage? and fried soy beans? This was the real star. I have never anything else quite like it.

Spinach Salad - cooked spinach and other things (not sure) I was not to fond of this but I do not like cooked spinach very much.

Fish Soup – This was a yellowish very thick fish-based soup with fresh cooked noodles, lime, cilantro, and home ground chili paste on the side. It was truly wonderful.

Garam Fritters – ground chick peas fried and served with a spicy dipping sauce (very much a hybrid between Indian and Thai)

Sour Mustard Plant with Tofu in Spicy Sauce – This was very unique. I am not even sure of everything that was in it. Just try it.

Pork in a Tamarind Curry – The pork was very tender and flavorful. I am guessing it was cooked for a good long while at low temperatures. The tamarind curry was excellent!

Pumpkin Curry – Not being a big fan of pumpkin I must say that this was the best pumpkin I have ever had.

Beef Curry – This was just OK. I bit oily. It tasted good but just was nothing special.

Dessert – A semi-sweet cake with sliced almonds and raisins baked into it. Not sure what this one is called as our waitress/proprietor just brought it out to us.

Beer – They had 22oz bottles of Fischer for $3, what a deal!

The atmosphere is a bit odd. Blue fluorescent lights and a very small seating area. We had the least desirable table (right by the door, I mean literally right by the door). The prices were very reasonable. We dropped $80 for four, including tax,tip and beer all around plus all the food mentioned above. They take reservations and credit cards.
