Music-Free or Quiet Spots?

K.McB. | Feb 14, 2001 11:13 AM

I was hoping this might be addressed in a recent NYT article where the writer talked about places to work in, but it didn't really happen.
Can anyone contribute names of any restaurants/bars where you could work or have a conversation or PLEASE, just an evening free of the barrage of sound?
I don't believe EVERYONE likes the same kind of music, nor that EVERYONE demands blasting tinned radio/deejay/tapes/jukebox. And don't you find it especially tacky when an expensive restaurant hits you with the sound system? Must all joints cater to what they believe the cosmo-swilling rich kids want?
