Konkan Café at the Vivanta by Taj serves arguably the best appams in Mumbai. Ensconced within a dining room modelled after a "Nallu Kettu" (Keralan traditional courtyard house), this colourful eatery offers cuisine from the Konkan coast, which spans from Mumbai in the north, all the way down to Goa and Udupi in the south.

You simply cannot come to Mumbai and not try "Bombay duck" - which is a fish, of course :-)
The 3 types of coconut chutneys served here - the plain, white coconut-chutney; the spicy reddish chilli-spiked kara-chutney; and the greenish-brown coriander-chutney.
The aviyal is a classic Keralan mixed vegetable stew, rich with coconut and curd, lightly spiced with cumin seeds and green chillies, with curry leaves to lend a subtle fragrance.
A Goan dessert staple - done perfectly here.
