Let's talk muffins. What are the best muffins, of all kinds, in the Boston area? I will nominate Bread and Circus for a general excellence (or at least very good-ness) award, based mainly on their superb corn muffins and very good pumpkin muffins. 1369 Coffee House also has very good ones, especially the lemon-poppyseed ones. (Just loaded with butter, though -- which I guess is okay since muffins ain't health food.) Oh, and there's a bakery between Newton and Waltham that has killer muffins (also of the butter-intensive kind), especially the coffeecake variety -- I can't remember the name or the exact street it's on. Nice grandmotherly woman runs it.

More contenders??
