Couple of days ago, after many years, I revisited Mount Vernon with out-of-town guests. The mansion was still there and well-cared for, but there were hundreds of visitors and construction was underway to create a montrous museum and orientation center. But, behind the fast-food court, was the old Mount Vernon Inn with its peanut soup and fried green tomatoes, its servers dressed in costumes of the period, and its old tavern look. For me, our lunch was the best part of the visit. Since I now live nearby, I think I should make it a point of going there for dinner. Can anyone disagree or urge me on?
