Restaurants & Bars

Moulton, Texas !

Anyone ever venture through Moulton? Well, there's not alot going on around this part of the state (which is the way most folks here like it, Hill Country no thank you please!). However, there is alot on a per capita basis in this town of 900 (between Flatonia & Shiner). There is Kloesel's Steak House, outstanding steaks & prime rib, as well as daily lunch specials. Folks from Houston come all the way out here for their prime rib (and for about 2/3 the cost). And there is the Alley BBQ up the street, great BBQ and hamburgers as well as lunch specials. The real action in this town however is the night life. Kloesel's has a bar with kareoke which is actually alot of fun. Then there is Pavla's Tavern and The Main Bar, both old time Czech/German bars, probably 100 years old. Cheap beer. The really great spot is Ole Moulton Bank, run by old hippies from Dan Electro's in Houston, which books live Texas music on Fridays & Saturdays. We saw Pauline Reese last time, a real talent (and beauty!) on her way to country super stardom. About 10 miles further down the road is Shiner. Werner's is a pretty good restaurant there, Frank's has outstanding BBQ but odd hours, and of course there's the brewery and Antiques & Beer on the main drag.
