I finally made it!!! After seeing their ad in the Reader for 10+ years touting the Best Burger in Chicago, and an occasional post in here, I made it on a dark and stormy night earlier this week.
We walked in and were astounded by how dark it was in there- It took a bit for the eyes to adjust, and the g-friend was a bit concerned about what may or may not be crawling around beneath. Huge grill behind the bar, and it's so dark, you wonder how they can see what they're cooking.
We each had a burger- she with bacon/cheddar, I, just cheddar..... Burgers were big, 1/2 pounders, on a non-descript soft sesame bun, w/ fries....
I don't see the rave.... Yes, they were big and filling, but I guess I was expecting more- The meat didn't have any noticeable seasonings, the fries were the skin-ons that you find all over chicagoland, and instead of a couple strips of bacon that she expected, it was crumbled bacon bits on the burger....Nothing to Shlep up Broadway for!!!!!!!
