My family just returned from four days in Montreal. Thanks to all who have listed their favorites, their disappointments, we (two adults and two teenage boys)had a wonderful time eating our way through town.
Auberge du Vieux Port was a delightful place to stay. We loved Pavarotti in the old section - excellent Italian with a very reasonable complete dinner ($17 for appetizer, main course, dessert and wine), La Patisserie Belge, Bistro Duluth for Portuguese food, Minerva on the Square du St. Louis for Greek food,Asha for Indian(a more varied menu than we had seen but a little lesser in quality than our own San Francisco area Indian). We had wonderful gelato-style ice cream everywhere.
Our only disappointment was Schwartz's - we thought it over-rated but can appreciate the "Montreal institution" aspects.
We look forward to visiting again.
