Montreal Advice - 5 Days

TheDegustationAsian | Feb 19, 201510:59 AM

Wife and I will be visiting Montreal for five days (5/26-5/31) with food as the primary purpose. Have read some old CH posts as well as outside blogs (Eater, Mouthfuls, etc.) but would still appreciate any feedback.

We are from NYC/Brooklyn and have enjoyed both M.Wells and Mile End. We enjoy all types of food, but plan on going big with the Quebecois as oppose to ethnic considering where we are visiting from.

Planning on staying at a hotel in either downtown (near McGill) or closer to the Plateau/Latin Quarter (on St. Denis). Seems rather obvious, but would you advise staying closer to the Plateau location? Many of these destinations are in the Plateau and are pretty walkable, or would your public transportation make location more of a non-factor?

Dinners (5):
- Au Pied de Cochon
- Joe Beef
- Club Chasse & Peche
- 400 Coups
- Nora Gray/Impasto?
All but the last meal is pretty much set. Have heard pretty good reviews about both Nora Gray and Impasto so I'd be interested in hearing any opinions. Also considering: Bouillon Bilk, Le Filet, Hotel Herman.

Lunch (5):
- Schwartz's
- Rotisserie Romados
- L'Express
- Lemeac/Laloux?
- La Banquise
Would appreciate any opinions on lemeac and laloux. Understand they are both well regarded.

Brunch (2):
- Lawrence
- Maison Publique
A little worried the menus read a bit too similar. Considering sticking with Lawrence and moving lemeac as the other option.

Breakfast (3):
- Fairmount Bagel
- St. Viateur Bagel
- Olive et Gourmando

- Kouign Amann
- Fous Desserts
- Patisserie Rhubarbe
- Cheskie
- Kem CoBa
- Patrice Patissier

- Jean Talon
- Atwater
