Missing Katsu

farmertomato | Sep 29, 2009 07:02 PM

Ever since Katsu (and Tama) moved to Beverly Hills and folded, we've felt adrift for sushi in the Valley. We know which one is the worst (Nozawa), and we know a lot of them that are pretty good (insert list of usual suspects here), but there's none that is stands out in our minds as the best. We had heard good reports on Asanebo, but after reading the review here and the unfortunate interest in being two restaurants at once, our enthusiasm has cooled. Due to an allergy I can't eat shellfish, and I have to trust the chef to respect that, so Omikase is a problem choice. I know the subject has been wrung out here before, but we'd like to hear of some current-day pretenders to the throne of Katsu. (If you think Nozawa is good, no need to reply.)
