Can anybody here help me out with last-minute Valentine's Day suggestions? I know I'm REALLY late for anything fancy, but thankfully, I'm not looking for a reservation to Le Cirque or Grammercy or anything.
I met a girl at the end of last year, and I didn't realize how much I liked her until this week. So I asked her to do something on Thursday, and she said yes.
I know I don't want to do anything too upscale, since it's a relatively new relationship, so I thought we'd go to Yama in Union Square for dinner. I was hoping that the non-reservation policy there would also mean it would be easier to get a seat. I'm thinking about getting there around 8:30.
But then again, I've read a couple of threads about all the pitfalls of going out on holidays, especially Valentine's Day, and I fear other guys out there might have the same ideas about places like Yama. It is pretty popular to begin with.
So, I write you for help! Any suggestions for a good Valentine's Day dinner? It doesn't need to be too fancy -- in fact, since it's a new relationship, I'd rather not go off the deep end.
Anywhere in the city is fine, preferably Manhattan. And somewhere that won't keep us waiting out in the cold for hours or rush us out the door!
I won't be able to start the date until late, like 8:30, so that might be a good thing for some places.
And if you have suggestions for a place to drink or have desert afterwards that'd be great too!
