The first Saturday in May is coming soon and I want to make mint juleps for Kentucky Derby Day.
I plan to make a simple syrup with 2 parts water to 1 part sugar and a bunch of mint thrown into the boil. For the juleps, I'll fill a glass with crushed ice and add 1 part simple syrup to 3 parts bourbon and add more crushed ice. Maybe I'll add a sprig of mint to the top.
I think I've got the recipe right and right for me is a drink that's not overly sweet. I'd like to hear other recipe's for this drink. I think the only items not accesible to me are pewter and silver cups.
How do you make mint juleps?
