Minnow--the last straw

We've finally given up hope for Minnow. Had dinner there last night. Now, I'm talking about the "original" Minnow, not Bar Minnow. We used to love this place for fish, and ate there every few months, but hadn't been back since Bar Minnow opened. We've tried Bar Minnow twice and thought it was really ok, for what it was--a decent place for a less fancy seafood meal, good fish and chips, oyster po'boy, a beer and some mussels, etc. (We didn't had the service issues others complained about.)

However, much to our dismay we discovered last night that the "Old" Minnow is no more! The exact same menu is now served at the bar and the restaurant. To make matters worse, while the service was fine, the food was mediocre--nothing like what its been in the past. They were out of the tuna and the shrimp cocktail, which cut the already small menu down to about three fish choices--one of which being the fish and chips. My lobster bisque was way too salty, and didn't taste much of lobster; the special of diver scallops was uninspired--and the scallops were definitely soaked, not fresh (I can tell the difference.) I didn't even finish them. My husband was so disappointed in the menu he ended up just ordering the fish and chips. The only bright spot was the appetizer of fried calamari, which was yummy; and the bread which thankfully is as good as its always been there.

oh well, another one bites the dust. Fish choices in the area are dwindling, especially with Blue Star now closed. (Bklyn Fish Camp is just too expensive and we were underwhelmed with the food there as well.) We're bummed!
