Miller Tavern - Review

Fwagra | Jun 1, 2004 03:27 PM

I went last Saturday night.

In short, it was excellent.

Lobster quesadillas with avocado salsa were delicious, and packed with actual lobster (not the claws, but tail and other good meat). They were worth $25.

Malpeque oysters on the half-shell were wonderful and fresh, and served much like at a professional oyster house, such as Rodney's. With all the trimmings, $2 per oyster. I don't know how that price stacks up against Rodney's, however. The oysters were yummy.

That would have been enough.

We had seared ahi tuna, which was impeccable, if a bit overdone. Big scallops were caramelized but not overcooked, just as they should be. They were sweet and flavourful.

Service was friendly and attentive. Don't bother with dessert: they serve Ben & Jerry's ice cream, which can be had cheaper from the grocery store, and dolled-up cupcakes for $6.95. Apparently, the cupcakes are inspired by Sex and the City; but, I don't get it.

The next time I go back, I will probably stick to the quesadillas and oysters.
