Milk Shortage in Boston area?

kobuta | Dec 15, 201407:18 AM     4

I saw a sign posted at the N Quincy S&S this weekend that due to a milk shortage, they may not have some of their milk products regularly available. They were out of all "normal" milks in various sizes (e.g., whole, reduced fat, skim -- but the organic brands were available.).

Did I just hit them on the wrong day? I saw plenty of milk at Hannaford's last week, without any indication there was a shortage. In searching for news, there were a few referenced news stories from earlier this year but that's it.

Was this just a combo of bad timing and S&S having difficulties procuring from the farmers? Has anyone seen this in their local markets?
