Mike's Roadhouse/ Second Opinion

After reading heidipie's review, I made a point to stop at Mike's on our way up to Portland.

My wife went for the soup and salad, while I tried one of the daily specials, a chicken tostada.
The salad was your typical diner side-salad.
The bean soup was nothing special.
The corn bread was dry.
My tostada was pretty good, although the shell was too greasy to sample.

I tasted the distinct flavor of bleach in my diet coke.
When I mentioned it to our waitress, she said that she would replace it with a bottled one from the store.
When she brought it, I stated the it appeared that she had heard this before.
She said "Yes; often".

One other nick was the restrooms.
The men's room was neglected.
There wasn't a stain, but an active culture growing under the facility!
My wife wasn't thrilled with the women's either.

The decor is great.
The dining area is ringed with old peddle cars.
The tables have games and/or books to entertain you while you wait.

Mike's Roadhouse Cafe will beat fastfood when you're on the road.
But, although it's worth checking out, I wouldn't make a point to stop there to eat.
