My office has fairly frequent need for catering. We ordered lunch for 50 to be delivered on Thursday of last week. This order was placed 2 days in advance.
Thursday, 11am rolls around and we have no delivery. The person who placed the order contacts them and was told that the bread delivery was late and that they were on their way.
We called again around 11:30 and were told that they were around the corner (our office is very close in proximity to the restaurant)
By 11:55, we had no food and were now about to have to enter the next training session meeting without having eaten. We had invited guests to come in from outside of our organization and would have to tell them that we in fact had no food and needed to either start the training without lunch or push the entire days events back until lunch had arrived.
At that time, another employee of our organization contacted them, at which time she pointedly expressed our concern. He spoke down to her repeatedly and told her that there was nothing he could do. At no point did he offer a discount off of the bill or say how he could make it better. Further, he blamed the bread delivery for the dealy. I beleive that this was a cause of delay, but they should have called us and let us know that it was running late, rather than have us call and be told for 45 minutes that the delivery driver was around the corner with our order.
He further told us that there is no guarantee on a delivery time- it is simply a request. At 12:00 (one full hour late) we saw the delivery person get off of the elevator at our office, and as we told the gentleman on the phone that he had arrived, he actually hung up on us.
Please consider this before ordering for a well-timed and planned event.
The food was very good, but because of the service, we will NEVER use this as a catering option again. Frankly, I am not likely to eat her again at all considering the way my two coworkers were treated.
