midtown for the day with my wife and kids

I'm from the boston area and am off from work next week. I'm going to drive into the city with my wife and two kids (3 year old twin girls, decently adventurous eaters).

We will probably be walking most of the day starting around bloomingdales (5th ave/60th) and ending around macy's (broadway/34th)...basically walking down 5th ave by rockefeller plaza etc...

Any suggestions for good places for a lunch (and maybe even dinner) in that area I won't have to take a second mortgage out to pay for and that is also friendly to young (well behaved) children...

bbq/mexican/chinese/deli all good. I usually go out of my way to avoid chains...

I know that is a pretty vague request, but I've only been to nyc a few times and it was without kids and usually centered around little italy and loads of alcohol..ha.

thanks in advance
