New midrange sushi places

Usual warning: I went to all these places with a Japanese friend.

1. Blocking on the name. North Side of Houston, probably near Sullivan. Step down, obvious high end sushi place. Chef moved from famous place in NJ. I had the $35 special sushi. This is high end. Two pieces of high end toro included. Very Japanese, mostly sushi bar service. Ate there opening night last week. Seems to target middle to high end, sushi deluxe is I think $20 and my friend had it. Good, but special was worth the extra $15. This place can handle an expense account with ease, I's sure $200 a person is possible. On the other hand, the $35 sushi special is a bargain for what it is.

2. Y's Place. On 73rd I think right off of First Avenue. Owned by a sushi fish wholesaler. Semi-traditional. Around $20-25 for Sushi deluxe. Very good fish and included about the best toro I have ever had. Small, quiet. Also, very good and unusual stuffed mushroom dumpling.
