Mid Wilshire Restaurants

I work in the mid-wilshire district (That row of mid-rise office buildings between Western and Vermont) and would like to know if anyone has found any good restaurants in the area.

If you're from around here, you know that this area is notoriously known for having really bad food outside of the local Korean.

I can only think of three restaurants that are any good in the area.

There's Taylor's on 8th for great inexpensive steaks, although its a bit far to walk and is not in the nicest part of the Wilshire area. They have the nicest thick cuts of steak that in my opinion easily rival Arnie Morton's at a much better price point.

I've also been to a place called Orchid on 6th that was surprisingly good. I went there for Karaoke (which is on the 2nd floor) and was amazed by how nice their dining room is. They have a chef that I was told used to work under Roy Yamaguchi!

Then there's Woo Lae Oak, which is a real nice Korean restaurant - very clean. But I went there a few weeks ago and the sign says that they are closed until 2005! There's also a location on La Cienega (restaurant row) but it's a little too far for my short lunch breaks.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
