A Michael Minna rave

Stacey | May 11, 200512:58 PM

Last night my boyfriend took me to Michael Minna to celebrate my birthday. Despite the mixed reviews on this board, we loved it! From the wonderful wait staff to the suprising food presentations, we had a fantastic experience. I didn't take notes so I can't do the meal justice, but here is what we had:

Lobster amuse bouche 3-ways: Lobster corn dog, lobster salad, and a lobster cake. All were delicious.

My apps: Scallops - 3 grilled scallops on potato cakes with 3 different sauces and 3 slices of scallop sashimi with different marinades. I get scallops very often when we go out to dinner and these were among the best.

His apps: Crab ravioli with 3 sauces, 3 different crab soups....I tasted all and they were varied and all delicious.

My main: Butter poached halibut 3 ways with 3 different sauces and brandades. This was a pretty large serving and I couldn't finish it....okay, I COULD have, but wanted to save room for dessert. Another hit.

His main: He varied from the 3-way prep and got the black cod with Israeli cous-cous and a light lobster peppercorn sauce. The bite I had was fantastic.

My dessert: Chocolate! Chocolate peanut butter molten cake, chocolate banana bread pudding, chocolate caramel cake, peanut butter milk shake, butterscotch (I think) pot de creme, and a carmel ice cream sundae. Decadent!!

His dessert: Stawberry.....strawberry rhubarb shortcake, strawberry crisp, strawberry with oatmeal raisin cookie and 3 different strawberry ice cream sundaes. I didn't think it was possible to make strawberry ice cream that special, but I was wrong.

A great place for a special occassion and an extravagent dining experience.
