Michael Jordan's Steakhouse

What happened to this place? The last time I ate there was several years ago but the food was quite good. I was getting together with some friends just before Christmas this year and the only steakhouse we could get a reservation at was Jordan's (which should have been the first clue). The steak came out literally 5 minutes after we sat down. It was of the poorest quality I have ever eaten at a Manhattan steakhouse (including Tad's and the old Flaming Embers) and, for some reason, covered with pepper (they were supposed to be porterhouse steaks). The steaks did not appear to be dry aged and were very thin (not 20 ounces as advertised). The sides were awful as well. The only thing that resembled the Jordan's of old was the fried onion rings and the Australian wine, both of which were very good. I’m not sure what went wrong with this place but with all of the competition in NYC for steakhouses, I am surprised they can remain open. If you're thinking of going to Jordan's, try to getting into Ben Benson’s, Sparks, Wolfgang’s or any other top notch steakhouse first. Barring that go to Tad's. The steak will be better and it will only cost you 1/10th the price!
