Miami restaurants - advice?

Betsy | Oct 18, 2003 02:45 PM

Hi all....

I'm going to be in Miami (well, South Beach really - I'm not renting a car) the first week in November, and I hope you can help me with my restaurant list.

First, whenever I go away, I like to "splurge" on at least one "big name restaurant. I was thinking of Norman's, even though it's in Coral Gables. Does anyone know how expensive a cab ride to CG would be, and if Norman's is worth it? I really would like to try a "Mango Gang" restaurant - other options would be Mark's, and maybe Chef Allen's. Which is best, in your opinion?

Some others on my list:

Wish
Nemo
Pacific Time

For Cuban food (a definite must):

Puerto Sagua
Yuca

Seafood:

A Fish Called Avalon
Grillfish

Any comments or suggestions? I know I want hang out at the Front Porch cafe, but if I'm missing anything else, please let me know. If it makes a difference, I'm a solo diner (which I never have a problem with; I'm used to traveling alone).

Thanks!
