Mezze in Charlestown disappointment

Hinghamguy | Oct 10, 2005 10:54 AM

Took my wife and 15-year old to Charlestown's Mezze 'cuz I'd never eaten at a fancy Greek restaurant. We split two appetizers "mezze" and each ordered an entree. My wife and I also each ordered one of the "wine flights" which is a sampler of three 3 oz glasses of wine. The total before tip was $140 so figure the average adult cost at $50 - $100 apiece. Sadly, the experience was not worth the price. The presentation was first-rate and the food was delicious...but not THAT delicious. The atmosphere is very friendly and sophisticated but the service came up short. The valet was nowhere to be found when we pulled up. We were seated without menus and eventually I went up to the front to get them myself. We had to flag down our waitress to request some more bread for our chick pea spread and I never got my avgelemono soup (although they remembered to charge me for it). None of these is a tragic infraction but collectively they represent a standard that did not justify the high price tag..
