Mexico City no reservations - possible to eat at top spots?

rachelchows | Dec 25, 201810:23 PM     13

Hi all! I decided very last minute to take 4-day trip to Mexico City (Dec 26-30). First time visiting and I’m incredibly excited!

There are a few hot spots I want to try that no longer have reservations available, and I’m wondering whether it’s worth showing up and trying to get a seat, and if so, when to go? Normally I wouldn’t think of doing this, but I’m a solo diner / traveler with a totally flexible schedule.

The places I’m thinking of are: Quintonil, Contramar, Nico’s, Maximo Bistrot

(Pujol would be on the list but I’m assuming it’s impossible, and plan to console myself with snacks at the new tortilleria he’s opened — plus I live in NYC and have been to Cosme.)

Also wondering how people on here feel about Nico’s? I’ve heard mixed things but some of those mixed things were extremely high praise.

I’ll report back! Thank you!
